Unfortunately, despite being a perfectly friendly and healthy dog, Robert has remained unadopted.

“Akala ko marami nang taong nag-a-adopt kapag gusto nila magkaron ng pet pero na-explain sa akin ng PAWS na napakarami pa ring aso sa shelter na naghihintay ng pamilyang mag-uuwi sa kanila,” Alden explains.

“May mga rescued dogs sa PAWS na more than four or five years nang nandun. Nakakalungkot, di ba? Kapag umuuwi ako sa bahay after ng trabaho, yung aspin kong si Chichi ang stress buster ko. Grabe yung binibigay nyang saya sa aming pamilya. Yun din ang wish ko para sa iba….na maranasan nila kung gaano ka-lambing at ka-loyal ang mga aspins. With the Love-Save-ADOPT Campaign, we want to encourage more people to adopt rescued aspins from shelters or pounds,” Alden shares.

PAWS Executive Director Anna Cabrera thinks this encapsulates the best message for International Dog Day which is being celebrated today. “We wish to thank Alden Richards for lending his voice to the campaign and speaking up for shelter dogs and aspins all over the country. Thank you as well to Doc Marlon Pecjo for generously sharing his time and talent and beautifully capturing these stunning images of Alden with Robert and some of our other shelter dogs. We hope through this new campaign, a lot of dogs will get a second chance at a good life so we encourage everyone to help us spread the word by sharing the ads on social media and we are also working to have it up in malls, vet clinics and billboards all over the city.”

Adoption FAQ

Can I return my adopted pet if I change my mind?

A pet is a lifetime commitment. However, if you truly can’t keep your adopted pet, please don’t abandon them on the streets or with strangers. Please return them to us so we can find another home for them.

Can my adoption application get denied?

Yes. Some reasons for denied applications include: Not being able to keep their pet indoors, incompatibility with the household, plus other circumstances that may be damaging to the health, safety, and happiness of our shelter animals.

I live in the province/abroad. Can I still adopt?

Yes, but special arrangements need to be made for the meet-and-greet, depending on your location. Please contact us to discuss your options. You may also opt to adopt from your local pound instead.

Why is there an adoption fee?

The adoption fee is a token of your commitment and and a demonstration of your financial capacity to care for a pet. P500 for cats / P1000 for dogs is a small price which already covers your pet’s spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations and tick+flea treatment.

Can I adopt more than one pet?

Some applicants may be approved to adopt more than one pet on a case to case basis, but especially if the animal you wish to adopt belongs to a bonded pair.
